Shiv Lata Memorial School, formerly known as Riverine Elementary School, was established in 2012 with a clear mission to deliver meaningful, value-based, and accessible education to children in and around Melatar, Rongli, Pakyong District, Sikkim. From its early beginnings with limited classrooms and a modest number of students, the institution has steadily grown into a respected learning centre known for discipline, dedication, and holistic child development.

The school was founded through the collective vision and effort of committed education-minded individuals who believed that quality foundational education shapes the future of both the child and the community. Over the years, the institution expanded its classes, strengthened its academic structure, and improved facilities including its own building, digital learning support, and playground space. Even during challenging periods such as the pandemic years, the school continued teaching through adaptive methods, home support, and teacher outreach reflecting its deep commitment to student continuity and care.

Today, Shiv Lata Memorial School serves pre-primary, primary, and junior high students and follows a balanced approach that combines academics, discipline, creativity, and character building. The school believes that education is not only about examination success but about developing thinking ability, communication skills, moral strength, and social responsibility.

With the guiding motto “Educate to Elevate,” the school focuses on lifting every learner intellectually, ethically, and emotionally.
